3 November 2018 - Ethics at the Movies

3 November 2018 - Ethics at the Movies

In collaboration with JvR Academy, TEI is offering a fun and inspiring way to engage with ethical issues - through film! By engaging with a movie, we start to ‘live’ the experiences of the characters and ask ourselves “what would I do?” if put in their situation. This is for everyone, so bring your partner and your CEO along! Bonus: if you are a professional and require continuous professional development (CPD) points for ethics, you can earn five (5) ethics points for attending. The first screening is of the 1993 thriller THE FIRM starring Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman, about a young lawyer who finds himself in a firm conducting nefarious acts under the radar. What should he do?

POSTPONED: 14 June 2018 - Whistleblowing Workshop

POSTPONED: 14 June 2018 - Whistleblowing Workshop

In this one-day course, we will explain the factors deterring employees from blowing the whistle on unethical behaviour, and how the organisation can create a culture in which employees feel safe to report. Two experts in the field, Liezl Groenewald and Dr Divya Singh - explore what goes through the mind of a whistle-blower, with the intention of identifying how to ensure that a workplace supports and encourages protected disclosures. They will also focus on the Protected Disclosures Amendment Act, which is has had a significant impact on professionals working in this area. PLEASE NOTE: The workshop has been postponed to the first quarter of 2019 and a new date will be communicated as soon as possible!
